Queens woman found dead in College Point waters; investigation ongoing

QUEENS, N.Y. — A 60-year-old Queens woman was found dead in the waters near College Point on Thursday afternoon, prompting an investigation by local authorities.

Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:55 p.m. on October 31 for a report of a person in the water near 115th Street and Poppenhusen Avenue, within the 109th Precinct. Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified woman unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, where the woman was pronounced dead.

The deceased has since been identified as Qiang Wu, a resident of Booth Memorial Avenue in Queens. Officials said the cause of death has not yet been determined, pending an examination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The NYPD stated that the investigation remains active as detectives work to gather more information surrounding the circumstances of Wu’s death.
