Elderly man injured after being pushed off train in Midtown subway station

NEW YORK, NY — Police are searching for a man accused of pushing an 80-year-old passenger off a train during a dispute at a Midtown Manhattan subway station on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred on November 20, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the East 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue subway station. The elderly victim was boarding a northbound 7 train when he became involved in a verbal altercation with an unidentified individual.

During the dispute, the man pushed the victim off the train, causing him to fall onto the platform. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he was treated for a hip injury and remains in stable condition.

The suspect, described as a male with a light complexion, approximately 6’3″ tall and weighing 210 pounds, was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, a brown hat, and black headphones. He remained on the train, which continued northbound, and his whereabouts are unknown.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s identity to come forward.
