Man, 21, fatally shot in Capitol Heights; police offering $25,000 reward

Police are appealing to the public for tips to help solve the deadly shooting.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — Prince George’s County Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man Sunday night in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights. The victim, identified as Christian West of Hyattsville, was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 5000 block of Lee Jay Court at approximately 7:50 p.m., where they found West outside, suffering from gunshot wounds. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital, authorities said.

Detectives have not identified a suspect or established a motive as the investigation remains ongoing.

Prince George’s County Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
