Newark police seek public’s help identifying suspects in armed robbery

Armed robbery suspects remain at large as Newark police urge community cooperation.

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for assistance in identifying two suspects involved in an armed robbery that occurred on December 3 in the 400 block of South 9th Street.

At approximately 8:18 p.m., two men approached a victim from behind and robbed him at gunpoint. According to Newark Public Safety Director Emmanuel Miranda Sr., one suspect pointed a weapon at the victim and demanded his wallet and cell phone. After the victim complied, the suspects pushed him toward an empty lot before fleeing southbound on 9th Street toward 16th Avenue.

Both suspects wore ski masks to conceal their identities. One suspect was dressed in black pants and a ski mask, while the other wore a white checkered jacket, black pants, and a black ski mask.

Authorities have released images of the suspects in hopes that the public can help identify them. No injuries were reported during the incident.
