Halethorpe man arrested on weapons charge after suspected DUI crash in Pasadena

A traffic stop in Pasadena led to a weapons arrest after a loaded handgun was discovered during a DUI investigation.

PASADENA, Md. — A Halethorpe man was arrested early Friday morning after a suspected DUI crash on Route 100 led to the discovery of a loaded handgun with an obliterated serial number, police said.

Officers responded to the single-vehicle crash involving a 2017 silver Honda Civic at approximately 3:30 a.m. near Ritchie Highway, according to authorities. During the investigation, the driver, identified as Jose Alvarenga Cabrera, 29, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.

While examining the vehicle, officers found a loaded .380 caliber Glock handgun with its serial number obliterated. Cabrera was arrested at the scene and is facing multiple charges, including weapons violations.

The case remains under investigation as authorities review the circumstances surrounding the firearm and the crash.
