Teen girl shot near Dunbar High School in Northwest D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A teenage girl was shot Tuesday afternoon near Dunbar High School in Northwest Washington, prompting an alert and temporary lockdown of the school, officials said.

The shooting occurred around 3 p.m. in the 200 block of Morgan Street NW. The injured girl fled to the high school for help and was subsequently transported to a hospital. Authorities have not provided updates on her condition.

The Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a white Hyundai Elantra with Pennsylvania license plate KFD1584 in connection with the shooting. A photo of the suspect has been released by the Real Time Crime Center.

Several roads in the area were closed as police conducted their investigation, including the 200 block of Morgan Street NW, 100-200 blocks of N Street NW, and the 1200 block of Kirby Street NW.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text the department’s anonymous tip line at 50411. The investigation is ongoing.
