Newark police seek public’s help identifying package theft suspect

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman suspected of stealing packages from a residence on December 31, 2024.

Police responded to a home on Fabyan Place near Beverly Street around 8:30 a.m. after reports of a theft. The victim, who had stepped out briefly, returned to find her delivered packages had been opened and the contents stolen. The stolen items included a Disney Junior Mickey remote control fire truck and Hot Wheels toy monster trucks.

Detectives described the suspect as a woman with a dark brown complexion. She was last seen wearing pink pants with black and white stripes along the sides, a pink top, a white or beige hooded jacket, and black fuzzy slippers.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. is urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips remain confidential and may be eligible for a reward.
