Teen suspect arrested in December fatal shooting in Prince George’s County

OXON HILL, Md. — A 17-year-old from Temple Hills has been arrested and charged as an adult in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in late December, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

The shooting took place on December 27 at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the 6100 block of Oxon Hill Road. Officers responding to the scene found 29-year-old Harvey Jones Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute, though no connection between the suspect and the victim has been established. With assistance from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, the PGPD Fugitive Unit apprehended the suspect in Calvert County.

The suspect faces charges of first- and second-degree murder along with related offenses. He is being held without bond at the Department of Corrections.
