Man found shot dead inside vehicle in Southeast D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 37-year-old man was found dead from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle early Sunday morning in Southeast D.C., prompting an active homicide investigation.

The shooting occurred around 3:03 a.m. in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast. Seventh District officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered the victim inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and EMS arrived at the scene and attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead shortly after.

The deceased has been identified as Alem Medmim, 37, of Alexandria, Virginia.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police Department at (202) 727-9099 or send an anonymous tip via the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
