Police Issue Alert After Failure During Cheswick Power Station Demolition

by Breaking Local News Report

SPRINGDALE, Pa. — Authorities are advising residents and commuters to remain cautious as demolition efforts continue at the former Cheswick Power Station following an incomplete demolition attempt on Sunday.

The attempted demolition of the Boiler House Building at 9:30 a.m. left a significant portion of the structure still standing. No injuries were reported, and officials have determined that the remaining structure is currently stable.

The property owner, CPERG, along with demolition contractor B&B Wrecking and Excavation Inc., has scheduled a final demolition attempt for March 8, pending weather conditions.

While Pittsburgh Street and Freeport Road have reopened, several secondary roads near the site remain closed as a precaution. Authorities urge residents to stay informed as demolition efforts progress.
