A 20-year-old man from Woodbridge has been arrested and charged with raping a young girl under the age of 13, following an incident that occurred last month in Prince William County.

Prince William County Police responded to a residence on the 13900 block of Mattapony Drive on May 3 after receiving a report of a sexual assault. Investigators determined that the incident took place days earlier, on April 27, when Nicolas Ponce arranged to meet the girl at the home.

Police said the two knew each other prior to the incident, and the meeting was discovered after a family member of the girl found messages exchanged between them. That discovery led to the report and subsequent investigation.

Ponce was taken into custody on May 4. He is charged with rape and aggravated sexual battery. Authorities have not disclosed whether he remains in custody or if bond has been set.

The victim’s identity is being withheld due to her age, and no further details about the nature of the messages or the meeting arrangements have been released.
