Suspect sought after attempted robbery in Bronx fails following struggle with 68-year-old woman

BRONX, N.Y. — A man is being sought by police after an attempted robbery involving a 68-year-old woman in the Bronx turned physical on Friday morning but ended without any property stolen.

According to police, the incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. as the woman sat inside her parked vehicle near 3290 Webster Avenue. An unidentified male approached the vehicle, threw a rock to shatter the driver’s side window, then opened the car door and grabbed the woman’s purse.

A physical altercation followed, during which the victim managed to regain control of her purse. Police confirmed that no property was ultimately taken during the incident.

The suspect fled on foot heading northbound along Webster Avenue. No injuries were reported in connection with the attempted robbery.

Police described the individual as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a purple vest.
