Sexual assault suspect held on ICE detainer in Toms River jail

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — A man identified as Jorge Macas-Vera is being held in the Ocean County Jail without bail following his arrest on charges related to the sexual assault of a minor and endangering the welfare of a child, according to inmate records.

Macas-Verawas booked on May 16. He faces two second-degree charges: one count of endangering the welfare of a child under New Jersey Statute 2C:24-4A, and one count of sexual assault involving a victim between the ages of 13 and 16 by a defendant at least four years older, under 2C:14-2C(4).

Court documents list no bail set in the case, and the charges remain open. He is being held without bond.

Immigration detainer issued

In addition to the criminal charges, an immigration detainer has been lodged against Macas-Vera by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
