PATERSON, NJ — The Paterson Police Department has issued an extreme heat warning as temperatures in the area are expected to reach 100 degrees, urging residents to take precautions to stay safe during the ongoing heat wave.
Authorities are advising the public to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and limit time in direct sunlight. Those who must go outside are encouraged to wear light clothing and seek shade when possible.
To assist residents, the city has opened two designated cooling centers. The Paterson Main Library at 250 Broadway and the Northside Library at 60 Temple Street will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will provide water for those in need.
