$25,000 Reward Offered After 18-Year-Old Woman Fatally Shot in Capitol Heights

Prince George’s County police are searching for the person responsible for the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Washington, D.C., woman late Friday night in Capitol Heights.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — Prince George’s County Police are investigating a homicide that claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman in Capitol Heights and are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

The victim was identified as Daijah Cherry of Washington, D.C.

According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting at approximately 11:05 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Doewood Lane in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights.

Victim found with gunshot wounds

When officers arrived, they located Cherry outside suffering from gunshot wounds.

She was transported to a hospital, where she died a short time later, police said.

The Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.

Detectives seeking suspects and motive

Investigators are working to identify the person or persons responsible for the shooting.

Authorities have not announced any arrests and said the motive remains under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to come forward.

A reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
