Reward climbs to $40K in Brentwood fatal shooting case

Washington, DC – Police are increasing the reward for information in a fatal Labor Day shooting in Northeast that left a 36-year-old man dead.

On Monday, September 1, at about 4:16 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the 2300 block of 14th Street NE after reports of gunfire. Officers arrived to find an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died despite emergency treatment.

The victim has been identified as Francois Adkins, 36, of Northwest DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. In partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service, an additional $15,000 has been added, bringing the total possible reward to $40,000.

Anyone with information is urged not to approach individuals connected to the case but instead to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411.
