69-Year-Old Man Injured in NYC Subway Attack

BRONX, NY – Police are searching for a suspect who punched and injured a 69-year-old man during a confrontation at a Bronx subway station last week, according to the NYPD.

The incident occurred around 11:08 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Westchester Avenue subway station, within the 40th Precinct and Transit District 12. Investigators say the suspect approached the victim on the northbound No. 2 train platform and asked him to open the emergency exit gate. When the victim refused, a verbal dispute broke out, escalating into a violent assault.

The attacker repeatedly punched the 69-year-old in the face and body before fleeing on a northbound No. 2 train. The victim sustained facial and body injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the subway station and nearby cameras to identify the assailant. No arrests have been made.
