MANHATTAN, NY – Police are searching for a suspect accused of siccing a dog on another man during a confrontation inside the Union Square subway station over the weekend.
According to the NYPD, the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, within the 13th Precinct and Transit District 4. Investigators say a 54-year-old man got into a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual over the person’s dog. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly slapped the victim across the face, then removed the dog’s muzzle and ordered the animal to attack.

The dog bit the victim’s left hand, leaving multiple lacerations before the suspect fled the scene with the dog. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the station and nearby platforms to identify the suspect, who remains at large.
