Arrest Made in Deadly Dumfries Carjacking

DUMFRIES, Va. — A man was arrested in Virginia Beach nearly a week after a fatal carjacking outside a Dumfries apartment complex.

Keith Anthony McBride, 41, is accused of carjacking Jose Vasquez Galvan outside the Oasis at Montclair Apartments on July 20, according to the Prince William County Police Department. During the incident, Galvan grabbed onto the gold Lexus SUV as McBride was driving in reverse. McBride allegedly crashed into another car, reversed again, and ran over Galvan before driving away. Galvan, 37, later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Surveillance photos of the suspect were released, and McBride was officially identified on Friday. He was arrested by Virginia Beach City Police six days later.

Authorities stated that McBride and Galvan did not know each other prior to the carjacking.

McBride will face felony murder, felony hit and run, and grand larceny auto charges.
