BALTIMORE, MD — A routine shopping trip turned into a life-changing moment for an East Baltimore man, who won $50,000 on a 50X The Cash scratch-off ticket while visiting O’Connor’s Check Cashing & Liquors on Eastern Avenue.

The hairstylist, who purchased the $10 instant ticket while out with his son, scratched it in-store and was stunned to discover the second-tier prize. “I’m very grateful for the win,” he said of the unexpected jackpot.

His wife, who was on vacation when he hit the prize, received the news in a phone call from her elated husband. According to the winner, the couple plans to use the windfall as a down payment on a new home for their family.

The $10 50X The Cash game, which launched on Jan. 22, 2024, still has two unclaimed $50,000 prizes, as well as one $100,000 top prize. The East Baltimore man is the eighth player to win the $50,000 second-tier prize since the game’s debut.

O’Connor’s Check Cashing & Liquors has now added its name to a growing list of retailers to sell high-value winning tickets.
