LANDOVER, Md. — The Prince George’s County Police Department has charged a 33-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred earlier this month in Landover.
Aaron Zavier Jefferson of Upper Marlboro faces charges in the killing of 31-year-old Dequan Clinkscale of Capitol Heights. According to police, officers responded to a call on June 7 at approximately 4:40 a.m. reporting an unresponsive man in the 400 block of Warfield Drive.
When officers arrived, they discovered Clinkscale in a parking garage with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified Jefferson as the suspect using “various investigative techniques,” police said. The preliminary investigation indicates that Jefferson and Clinkscale, who were acquainted, got into an argument that escalated to gunfire.
Jefferson is charged with first- and second-degree murder along with related charges. He is currently being held in Fairfax County awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
