Minster woman hits $50K Cash Explosion jackpot after ticket mix-up at kiosk
MINSTER, OH – What started as a mistaken button press at a self-serve lottery kiosk ended with a life-changing win for one Minster woman, whose accidental ticket purchase landed her a spot on Ohio’s Cash Explosion® and a $50,000 jackpot.
Nancy of Minster never intended to buy the ticket that would catapult her onto television and into the winner’s circle. But after selecting the wrong option at a kiosk, she decided to stick with her purchase—and that fateful choice earned her a place on the popular Ohio Lottery game show.
During the show, Nancy scored $7,500 and the Ticket Jackpot in the first round. While that total wasn’t enough to move her into the final Cash Challenge round, her fortune shifted dramatically in the show’s “Second Chance” Cash Challenge. Her name appeared three times on the board, securing her a $50,000 prize.
Following her TV appearance, Nancy took home a bundle of “Win It All” tickets—worth $1,000—and brought them back to Minster. Though she initially wanted to wait until Thanksgiving to scratch them, the temptation proved too strong. She tackled the pile in small batches of five to ten tickets throughout her day, revealing an additional $785 in winnings.
The combined total brought Nancy’s take-home prize to over $58,000.
Nancy and her husband plan to use the winnings to add a first-floor owner’s suite to their home, a renovation they’ve long envisioned.
The winning Cash Explosion ticket was purchased at Wagners IGA, located at 257 E 4th St in Minster.
The Ohio Lottery, which funds education across the state, has contributed more than $34 billion to public education since 1974.
