WILKES-BARRE, PA – A woman was killed and another seriously injured Thursday afternoon after their SUV crashed into a parked tractor-trailer on North Pennsylvania Avenue.
The collision occurred around 3:25 p.m. in the 700 block of the street, prompting a response from Wilkes-Barre police, fire, and EMS units.
Officers arrived to find a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer with extensive front-end damage and both occupants trapped inside.

Driver pronounced dead at scene
Police said the driver, a 57-year-old Wilkes-Barre resident, was pronounced dead before first responders could extract her from the wreckage. The 55-year-old passenger, also from Wilkes-Barre, was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital. Her condition has not been released.

The Luzerne County Coroner’s Office was notified, and the Wilkes-Barre Police Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to process the scene and determine the cause of the crash.
