Newburgh, NY — A Powerball player in Orange County is holding a third-prize-winning ticket worth $50,000 after matching four white balls and the red Powerball in the December 6 drawing.

The New York Lottery confirmed that the winning ticket was sold at Smokes 4 Less, located at 59 North Plank Road in Newburgh. The ticket matched enough numbers to earn the $50,000 prize — just one number short of the game’s multimillion-dollar jackpot.

The winning numbers for the December 6 Powerball drawing were selected from a pool of one to 69, with the red Powerball drawn from a separate field of one to 26. The Powerball drawing is held three times a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m.

Winners have up to one year from the drawing date to claim their prize. Ticket holders are advised to sign the back of their ticket immediately and contact the New York Lottery for instructions on how to claim.

The New York Lottery, which contributed $3.6 billion to public education in the 2024–2025 fiscal year, remains the largest and most profitable lottery in North America.
