Homicide suspects arrested as fugitive hunt unfolds across two cities
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A rapid series of arrests across Northeast Ohio led to the capture of three violent fugitives — including two wanted for homicide — in just 24 hours, federal authorities said.
The coordinated operation by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force resulted in arrests in both Cleveland and Akron, bringing multiple dangerous suspects into custody.
The first arrest came early Wednesday when investigators tracked down 22-year-old Devin Terrell Robinson, who was wanted for aggravated murder in connection with a fatal stabbing.
Authorities said the case stemmed from a February incident in which a 31-year-old man was found stabbed near West 94th Street and Denison Avenue. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim later died.
Robinson was located at a home on Mount Herman Avenue, where officers also made a second unexpected arrest.
Inside the same residence, authorities found 28-year-old Joshamee Transou, who was wanted on charges that were upgraded to attempted murder following a shooting.
Hours later, a third fugitive was captured in Akron.
Authorities arrested 39-year-old Philip Mayfield, who is accused in a homicide case after allegedly running over a victim with a vehicle. The incident occurred earlier this month, with charges upgraded after the victim died from injuries.
Officials said all three arrests were made without incident.
U.S. Marshals praised the coordinated effort, noting the suspects had posed serious threats to public safety before being taken off the streets.
