Road work forces temporary lane changes along a busy stretch of State Highway 35, with police urging drivers to slow down and stay alert.
WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – Traffic along State Highway 35 is being rerouted Friday morning as crews carry out road work near the Wall Promenade, causing delays in both directions during peak travel hours. Southbound vehicles are already being diverted into the center lane, with similar changes expected shortly for northbound traffic.
The Wall Township Police Department alerted motorists to the shifting traffic pattern, warning that conditions may change quickly as work progresses through the morning.
Traffic pattern changes and timing
“Traffic traveling on State Highway 35 southbound in the area of the Wall Promenade (1919 SH-35) is being diverted into the center lane due to road work,” the Wall Township Police Department said. “Later this morning northbound traffic will be diverted into the center lane for the same reason.”
The department said the project is expected to be completed by 11 a.m., at which point normal traffic flow should resume. Until then, drivers traveling through the corridor may encounter slower speeds and brief congestion as lanes merge.
Police advised motorists to remain cautious while traveling through the work zone. “Please use caution when traveling through the area,” the department stated.
The affected section near 1919 State Highway 35 is a heavily traveled commercial area, and the temporary lane shifts are expected to impact both local and through traffic during the morning commute window.
