New York, NY — More than three decades after a Bronx couple were bound and executed in front of their 3-year-old child during a drug-related robbery, federal agents and New York City detectives have arrested a suspect accused of carrying out the killings.
William Antonio Solis, 62, of Tampa, Florida, was arrested on April 22 following a joint investigation by Homeland Security Investigations New York and the New York City Police Department, authorities announced.
Prosecutors allege Solis participated in the June 21, 1993, murders of Luis Guerrero and his wife, Danis Sime, a case that remained unsolved for decades.
Couple Allegedly Executed During Planned Robbery
According to investigators and allegations outlined in a federal indictment, Solis and two co-conspirators targeted Guerrero, whom authorities described as a narcotics supplier.
The suspects allegedly carried out a planned robbery at an apartment in the Bronx.
Investigators say Guerrero was restrained while drugs were stolen from him. Authorities allege the suspects then lured his wife, Danis Sime, to the apartment, where she was also overpowered and bound.
Prosecutors contend that Solis then executed both victims by shooting them in the head.
The killings allegedly occurred in the presence of the couple’s 3-year-old child.
Arrest Made More Than 1,000 Miles Away
Despite the passage of more than 30 years, investigators continued pursuing leads in the case.
HSI Tampa agents, working with local law enforcement partners, arrested Solis in Florida on April 22.
He has been charged with intentional killing while engaged in a narcotics conspiracy.
Authorities did not disclose what new evidence ultimately led to the arrest.
“As alleged, William Solis spent decades hiding in plain sight more than a thousand miles from where he viciously murdered the Guerreros in front of their young child,” said HSI New York Acting Special Agent in Charge Michael Alfonso.
“This arrest is the result of years of meticulous investigative work by dedicated special agents and task force officers who refused to let this case go cold.”

Solis now faces federal charges connected to the killings.
As with all criminal cases, the allegations contained in the indictment remain accusations, and Solis is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The arrest marks a major breakthrough in one of the Bronx’s longstanding unsolved homicide cases, bringing prosecutors a step closer to seeking justice for a couple whose lives were allegedly taken during a robbery more than three decades ago.
