Dover Wendy’s robbery suspect busted after coming back for forgotten AirPod

Police say the suspect came back while officers were investigating.

DOVER, Del. — A woman accused of robbing a Wendy’s restaurant in Dover was arrested after police said she returned to the business to retrieve an AirPod she left behind during the incident.

The robbery was reported at approximately 9:09 p.m. Sunday at the Wendy’s located at 1596 S. DuPont Highway, according to the Dover Police Department.

Investigators said an adult woman and a juvenile male purchased food before requesting a cash refund because they were dissatisfied with their order. Employees told them the refund could not be processed at the restaurant and that they would need to contact management.

Police said the woman then became agitated, went behind the service counter into an employee-only area and took approximately $15 from a cash register.

When an employee tried to stop the theft, the woman allegedly punched the employee multiple times in the chest. Police said the cash was then thrown out the drive-thru window, where it was collected by the juvenile male.

According to investigators, the juvenile also entered the restaurant during the incident, and both suspects threatened to shoot employees before fleeing.

While officers were still investigating the robbery, police said the woman returned to the restaurant to retrieve an AirPod she had left behind during the incident. She was taken into custody without incident.

Police identified the suspect as Shadaira Harris, 33, of Ellendale.

Harris was charged with:

  • Robbery (Strong-Arm)
  • Third-Degree Burglary
  • Second-Degree Conspiracy
  • Terroristic Threatening
  • Offensive Touching

She was committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $29,000 secured bond.

Police said the investigation into the juvenile male suspect remains ongoing.
