Manhunt ends with arrest in shooting that wounded three people in Dover

A suspect accused of opening fire during a fight that injured three people was captured after a week-long manhunt that included a foot chase into the woods, police said.

DOVER, Del. — A Dover man wanted in connection with an April shooting that wounded three people has been arrested after authorities tracked him down following an extensive search, according to the Dover Police Department.

The shooting occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. on April 8 in the unit block of North Governors Avenue.

Officers responding to reports of gunfire found a 57-year-old woman with graze wounds to her arm and chest, a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body and a 41-year-old man with a graze wound to his arm.

The woman and the 19-year-old man were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 41-year-old man declined medical treatment.

According to investigators, several people had been involved in a physical altercation when a suspect allegedly fired two shots toward the group before fleeing through an alley west of North Governors Avenue.

Detectives identified 23-year-old Deivin Trower, of Dover, as the suspect and obtained arrest warrants on June 26.

The U.S. Marshals Service First State Fugitive Task Force joined the search the following day.

On July 1, investigators attempted to arrest Trower in the Fairway Lakes Drive area, but police said he fled on foot into a wooded area behind the Wawa on Route 8. Despite an extensive search, officers were unable to locate him.

On July 9, investigators received information that Trower was staying at the White Oak Apartments in Dover.

Police said 21-year-old Tionna Harmon, of Dover, exited the residence and appeared to act as a lookout. A short time later, Trower climbed out of a rear window and attempted to walk toward White Oak Road before he was apprehended while trying to flee again.

Authorities said Harmon was found in possession of a Polymer80 handgun frame believed to belong to Trower.

Trower was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of second-degree assault, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, first-degree reckless endangering, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $175,100 cash bond.

Harmon was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and hindering prosecution. She was released on a $4,500 unsecured bond.

The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
