Newburgh store strikes twice with Powerball winners

Two winning tickets worth $50,000 each sold at the same Orange County retailer

NEWBURGH, N.Y. — One Orange County convenience store produced double the excitement after selling two third-prize-winning Powerball tickets, each worth $50,000, for the Saturday, Aug. 1 drawing.

According to the New York Lottery, Smokes 4 Less, located at 59 North Plank Road in Newburgh, sold both winning tickets.

Each ticket matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball to win the game’s third-tier prize of $50,000.

The New York Lottery did not release information about the ticket holders.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
