Two public schools will win refreshed spaces packed with new furniture and supplies for educators

RICHMOND, VA – Two Virginia public schools are set to receive $10,000 teachers’ lounge makeovers as the Virginia Lottery brings back a statewide promotion designed to give educators new spaces to recharge during the school day.

The Virginia Lottery and The Supply Room announced the second annual Teachers’ Lounge Makeover promotion, which is open to Virginia K-12 public schools.

Anyone 18 or older, including teachers, school employees, parents and community members, can enter a favorite eligible school through Oct. 6.

Two schools will be selected, with each receiving a teachers’ lounge makeover valued at $10,000.

The redesigned spaces will include new furniture and supplies intended to create updated areas for teachers and school staff.

Entries can be submitted at ThankATeacherVA.com/teacherslounge by selecting a Virginia K-12 public school and completing the entry form.

The drawing is scheduled for Oct. 7.

The promotion returns after Suburban Park Elementary in Norfolk was selected as a winner last year.

That school’s teachers’ lounge received a new couch, refrigerator, tables, chairs, cabinetry and greenery. Artwork created by students who won the Thank a Teacher Art Contest was also incorporated into the redesigned space.

The Virginia Lottery reported generating more than $914 million for K-12 public education during Fiscal Year 2026, representing approximately 10% of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.

Since 1999, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to K-12 education in Virginia.
