QUEENS, NY – Jessica Heyliger was handed a 10-year prison sentence on Friday, having been convicted of spearheading a notorious gun and ammunition trafficking operation.
The firearms and ammunition were illicitly transported to Queens from the south via the infamous Interstate 95 “Iron Pipeline.”
A resident of Lakewood Avenue in Jamaica, 39-year-old Heyliger entered a guilty plea on July 11 for criminal sale of a firearm in the first degree and fourth-degree conspiracy.
Sharod King, a co-defendant and the sole person who dealt weapons to an undercover officer, previously admitted guilt for selling firearms and was sentenced in May to nine years in prison. Mitchell Myree and Laquan Benson, other individuals connected with this case, have also entered guilty pleas.
Details from the investigations, which initiated in September 2019, reveal that Heyliger was the source for 23 firearms that were sold to an undercover officer across 13 distinct transactions. This also included several rounds of ammunition and over ten high-capacity magazines. Heyliger procured all weapons and ammunition from the south, transporting them through the Iron Pipeline.
