Drunk Driver Charged After Wrong-Way Incident

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA – A 34-year-old man faces multiple charges following a DUI incident on Friday at approximately 10:41 PM. Sergeant B.U. Demirci and Deputy C.R. Newman of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint about a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Landmark Drive.

Upon conducting a traffic stop, deputies observed clear signs of intoxication from the driver, who had an open Modelo beer in the center console and admitted to consuming 12 beers prior to driving from DC.

The driver, who also lacked a valid driver’s license, was charged with driving under the influence, drinking while driving, failure to drive on the right side of the road, and driving without a license. He is currently held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond.
