Abandoned Structure Fire Under Arson Investigation in South Jersey

January 2, 2025

On the morning of Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at approximately 9:41 a.m., Galloway Township Police responded to reports of an active structure fire on the 400 block of South Odessa Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered an abandoned structure south of the White Horse Pike fully engulfed in flames.

Emergency personnel quickly shut down the White Horse Pike in both directions for about four and a half hours to facilitate firefighting efforts. Firefighters on the scene acted swiftly to contain and extinguish the blaze, preventing any damage to nearby land or property.

Preliminary inspections of the site uncovered evidence suggesting the fire may have been intentionally set. Authorities are continuing their investigation, with police and fire personnel working to analyze the evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the fire.

The Galloway Township Police Department is urging anyone with information related to the fire to contact Detective Sajan Patel at 609-652-3705, extension 322.
