Catonsville ticket delivers major win for Baltimore player
Baltimore, MD — After years of small lottery wins, a Baltimore man saw his persistence pay off when a Powerball ticket delivered a major prize in the April 6 drawing.
The longtime player matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball to secure a $50,000 third-tier win, according to Maryland Lottery officials.
The winner, who claimed the prize April 21 at Lottery headquarters, said he regularly plays and has seen smaller payouts over time.
He relied on his daughter to check the ticket using the Maryland Lottery app. When she confirmed the win, he said he was grateful.
The ticket was purchased at the Soda Pop Shop on Ingleside Avenue in Catonsville.
Lottery officials said the winner plans to place the money into savings and continue playing. His daughter, who also participates in lottery games, indicated she plans to keep playing as well.
Powerball drawings are held three times a week, offering players multiple chances to win.
