BARNEGAT, N.J. — Officers from the Barnegat Police Department began their journey Saturday in the 2026 Police Unity Tour, joining thousands of law enforcement riders traveling to Washington, D.C., to honor officers killed in the line of duty.
“Team Barnegat,” the riders are expected to cover hundreds of miles over several days before arriving at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, where departments from across the country gather each year during National Police Week.
The annual ride serves both as a memorial tribute and a national show of solidarity among law enforcement agencies remembering fallen officers.
Hundreds of Miles for a National Tribute
The Barnegat Police Department recognized not only its participating officers but also the support teams, escorts, organizers and volunteers who help coordinate the large-scale event each year.
Departments throughout New Jersey and neighboring states routinely participate in the Police Unity Tour, which has grown into one of the country’s most recognized law enforcement memorial traditions since its founding in 1997.
Officials described the ride as a reminder that officers who died in the line of duty are not forgotten by the communities and departments they served.
