SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. — Breakwater Beach Waterpark is recognizing New Jersey’s beach lifeguards with five evenings of free admission this summer as part of a partnership with the New Jersey Swim Safety Alliance to celebrate the men and women who protect swimmers along the Jersey Shore.
The “We Love New Jersey Beach Lifeguards!” program will be held Wednesday evenings from July 15 through August 12, offering free admission to currently employed open water lifeguards from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Lifeguards can receive complimentary admission by presenting a valid identification card, pay stub or employment agreement. Organizers encourage participants to arrive before 7:30 p.m. to make the most of the evening.
Family fun and water safety
The events coincide with Breakwater Beach Waterpark’s weekly Family Fun Nights, which feature DJ entertainment, foam parties and other activities for guests.
Representatives from the New Jersey Swim Safety Alliance will also be on site throughout the series to provide water safety education and resources for families visiting the park.
A special guest is scheduled to appear on Wednesday, July 22.
Captain Jack, the award-winning rescue canine and therapy dog known for promoting water safety, will join Salty Paws Beach Patrol from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to meet families, distribute water safety stickers and share educational materials.
Captain Jack and his owner, Rob Brown, have earned national recognition for their work in water safety education. The rescue canine recently served as an honorary lifeguard during the World’s Largest Swim Lesson at Breakwater Beach Waterpark.
Celebrating New Jersey’s lifeguards
Breakwater Beach officials said the program is intended to recognize the important role lifeguards play in protecting residents and visitors throughout the summer.
“What better way to celebrate the men and women who keep us safe on our beaches than to have them enjoy a fun evening of waterpark fun,” said Lou Cirigliano, director of Breakwater Beach Waterpark.
Cirigliano also noted the events follow New Jersey’s recent recognition of open water lifeguards as first responders.
“In light of the recent state resolution making Open Water Lifeguards First Responders, these five free events are a perfect way to celebrate with and for them,” he said.
The free admission offer is available only to active New Jersey open water lifeguards during the scheduled Wednesday evening events.
