Brooklyn Teen Shot in Back After Gunman Opens Fire During Avenue U Dispute, NYPD Says

A 19-year-old man was shot in the back after an argument escalated into gunfire on Avenue U in Brooklyn, and the suspect remains at large, according to the NYPD.

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a gunman who allegedly shot a teenager during a daytime confrontation in Brooklyn earlier this month.

According to the NYPD, the shooting occurred on June 1 at approximately 2:30 p.m. in front of 1213 Avenue U within the confines of the 61st Precinct.

Investigators said a 19-year-old male victim was approached by an unidentified man who became involved in a verbal dispute with him.

Argument Turns Violent

During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly displayed a firearm and fired at the victim.

Police said the victim was struck in the back by gunfire.

The circumstances that led to the dispute have not been released.

Suspect Fled on Foot

Following the shooting, the gunman fled the area on foot.

According to investigators, the suspect ran westbound on Avenue U before turning northbound onto East 12th Street.

No arrests have been announced.
