Columbia, Md. – A 15-year-old Ellicott City resident is facing a robbery charge after Howard County officers say he assaulted another juvenile and stole clothing during a confrontation Tuesday afternoon near one of Columbia’s busiest intersections.
The incident unfolded around 3:50 p.m. at Little Patuxent Parkway and Cedar Lane in the 21044 zip code. According to the Howard County Police Department, the juvenile victim reported that an acquaintance attacked him and took items of clothing before fleeing the area. No serious injuries were reported.
Officers later identified and charged a 15-year-old male from Ellicott City in connection with the case. Because both individuals are juveniles, additional details were not released.
The reported robbery occurred during afternoon traffic in a commercial corridor lined with offices, retail centers, and bus stops, drawing attention to safety concerns in high-traffic pedestrian zones.
In a separate incident overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, police responded to the 9300 block of Gerwig Lane in Columbia’s 21046 zip code for a theft from a vehicle. Investigators said a catalytic converter was removed from a parked vehicle sometime during the night. The case is being investigated as a catalytic converter theft, a crime that has affected neighborhoods across the region in recent years.
