Connecticut grocery shopper hits massive Mega Millions prize

Norwalk shopper wins $50K Mega Millions prize at Stop & Shop

Norwalk, CT – A Mega Millions ticket sold at a Stop & Shop in Norwalk has made one lucky shopper $50,000 richer, according to Connecticut Lottery officials.

The winning ticket was purchased at Stop & Shop #640 in Norwalk and matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball in the Tuesday, January 29 drawing—earning the ticket holder a $50,000 prize.

So far, the winner has not been publicly identified. Connecticut Lottery policy allows winners of prizes under certain thresholds to remain anonymous unless they choose to come forward.

The $50,000 payout is one of several high-tier prizes awarded in recent Mega Millions drawings, as the nationwide jackpot continues to generate buzz across the country.

Players must match five numbers drawn from a pool of 70 white balls and one Mega Ball from a separate pool of 25 to win the jackpot. Matching four white balls plus the Mega Ball, as this Norwalk winner did, secures a $10,000 prize, which can increase to $50,000 with the optional Megaplier—if selected at the time of purchase.

Stop & Shop #640 is now added to the growing list of Connecticut retailers where lucky Mega Millions tickets have been sold.
