Cumberland woman charged after street disturbance and assault on North Centre Street

CUMBERLAND, MD – A 31-year-old woman from Cumberland has been charged following an alleged assault and public disturbance on North Centre Street Friday morning, according to the Cumberland Police Department.

Police said officers were called to the 600 block of North Centre Street around 9:16 a.m. on February 13 after receiving reports of a woman yelling in the roadway about being involved in a fight. When officers arrived, they found Amber Nicole Tallman acting erratically and detained her for safety reasons. She was later taken to UPMC Western Maryland for evaluation.

During the investigation, police contacted another woman who reported that Tallman had assaulted her. Officers observed visible injuries on the victim, prompting police to file charges through the District Court of Allegany County.

Charges filed following investigation

On February 14, officers served Tallman with a criminal summons for second-degree assault and disturbing the peace/disorderly conduct.
