Delaware Man Identified After Deadly Three-Vehicle Crash on Old Furnace Road in Georgetown

Delaware State Police have identified the driver killed in a three-vehicle crash on Old Furnace Road in Georgetown as 52-year-old Jon Jefferson of Lincoln.

A Lincoln man has been identified as the victim of a fatal three-vehicle crash that shut down a Georgetown roadway for several hours Friday morning.

The Delaware State Police said Jon Jefferson, 52, died following the collision that occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Old Furnace Road west of Rementer Road.

According to investigators, Jefferson was driving a Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Old Furnace Road when the pickup crossed over the center lane markings for reasons that remain under investigation. The Silverado first sideswiped a westbound Toyota Sienna before continuing forward and colliding head-on with a Nissan Rogue.

Jefferson was pronounced dead at the scene. State police released his identity after notifying his family.

Two Other Drivers Injured

The driver of the Toyota, a 50-year-old Georgetown woman, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The Nissan driver, a 33-year-old Seaford man, suffered serious injuries and was flown to an area hospital by the Delaware State Police Aviation Section.

Authorities have not released updates on his condition.

Investigation Continues

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.

The roadway remained closed for approximately four hours while investigators processed the scene and crews cleared the wreckage.
