Delaware teen found shot inside crashed vehicle as homicide probe unfolds near boat ramp

State police say a 17 year old driver died after gunfire erupted near Concord Pond in Seaford

SEAFORD, Del. — A teenage driver was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a crashed vehicle Thursday night in Seaford, launching a homicide investigation near a Sussex County boat ramp, according to Delaware State Police.

Troopers responded at approximately 8:45 p.m. to the 24000 block of German Road following reports of a crash.

When officers arrived, they discovered a 17-year-old male from Laurel inside the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police immediately began lifesaving efforts before the teen was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity until family members are notified.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate the teenager was shot near the Concord Pond boat ramp on German Road by an unknown suspect before the vehicle crashed.

Investigators have not released information regarding a possible motive or suspect description.
