Rockville, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Wednesday near the intersection of Muncaster Mill Road and Norbeck Road.
4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location around 5:37 a.m. for a reported collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, identified as 43-year-old Earl William Smith of Clinton, was driving a 2012 Ford transit T350 when he collided with a sign, leading to the van becoming disabled in the median. Subsequently, Smith exited his vehicle and was struck by a 2007 Black BMW 328i traveling eastbound on Muncaster Mill Road, near Norbeck Road. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
