Fire At Ocean County Elementary School Caused by Faulty Equipment

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Stafford Township Police Department was called to Oxycocus Elementary School, located at 250 Route 9 North, following a report of a structure fire.

Officers arriving at the scene found flames emanating from a wall-mounted heat pump, which were promptly addressed using fire extinguishers.

The fire was successfully put out by the Stafford Township Fire Department alongside other local fire services. No injuries have been reported in relation to the incident.

Initial investigations by the Stafford Township Fire Inspector and the Stafford Township Detective Bureau point to a malfunctioning wall-mounted heat pump as the cause of the fire. Both the police and fire departments are set to continue their investigations into the incident, which was first brought to the school’s alarm company’s attention.
