$2M Mega Millions ticket bought online by Pennsylvania player
MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — A Pennsylvania Lottery player turned Friday the 13th into a lucky day after scoring a $2 million Mega Millions prize on a ticket purchased online for the March 13 drawing.
The ticket matched all five white balls — 6, 19, 36, 40 and 55 — but missed the yellow Mega Ball 9.
Because the ticket matched five numbers without the Mega Ball, it qualified for the game’s $2 million second-tier prize before taxes.
Lottery officials said the winner has not yet been identified. Winners are only known once prizes are claimed and tickets are validated.
Pennsylvania Lottery Mega Millions winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. Online prizes of $2 million must be claimed in person at Pennsylvania Lottery headquarters.
More than 6,400 other Pennsylvania Lottery tickets also won prizes of varying amounts in the March 13 drawing.
The Mega Millions jackpot has rolled to an estimated $60 million annuity, or $27.1 million cash, for the next drawing on Tuesday, March 17.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
