Ohio man wins $16K on Cash Explosion after years of waiting for shot

Newark, OH — A long-awaited moment turned into a winning appearance for a Newark man who finally made it onto a popular Ohio Lottery TV show and walked away with a five-figure prize.

Maurice McGlothlin, known as “Mo,” was selected to appear on the Cash Explosion television show after years of hoping for the opportunity. He discovered the news while checking the list of upcoming contestants at his brother-in-law’s home, prompting a celebration among family members.

During the show, McGlothlin selected the numbers 6, 11, and 19, based on his birthday and his wife’s. The choice resulted in a total prize of $16,400, which included both 2X and 3X bonus multipliers.

After required state and federal taxes of 26.75%, his take-home amount is $12,013.

McGlothlin said he had the winning ticket autographed by the show’s hosts and staff following the taping.

His appearance drew support from the community, including a watch party hosted by the American Legion.

The winning ticket was purchased at Maysville Duchess Shoppe #1224, located at 2830 Maysville Pike in Zanesville.

McGlothlin said he plans to use part of the winnings to pay off bills and then travel to Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, where he and his wife intend to search for gemstones.

The Ohio Lottery reports contributing more than $34 billion to education since 1974.
