ELLENDALE, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating after gunfire struck an occupied home in Ellendale early Friday morning, prompting a criminal investigation into what authorities describe as a targeted shooting.
Troopers responded at approximately 12:10 a.m. Friday to the 18000 block of Sharons Road after receiving reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they discovered that unknown suspect or suspects had fired multiple rounds into an occupied residence.
Occupants escape without injury
Despite the home being occupied when the shooting occurred, no one inside was struck by the gunfire.
According to Delaware State Police, “unknown suspect(s) fired multiple shots that struck an occupied home. No one was injured.”
Investigators have not released information about a possible motive or whether the residence was specifically targeted.
The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to identify those responsible.
