High speed pursuit erupts after car slams into FBI unit in NY

Wild chase ends with suspects in custody after ramming FBI vehicle in Westchester

ARMONK, NY — A fast-moving police pursuit spanning highways and local roads erupted into chaos after a fleeing driver slammed into an FBI vehicle before being boxed in and arrested in Westchester County, officials said.

The chain of events began around 9:06 a.m. Wednesday when New York State Police attempted to stop a black Acura traveling southbound on Interstate 684 near Bedford for traffic violations.

Instead of pulling over, the driver sped off — triggering a multi-agency pursuit that quickly escalated.

The vehicle continued along I-684 before exiting and reappearing minutes later on Route 22 in Armonk, where officers from multiple agencies converged to intercept it.

Authorities said the situation turned even more dangerous when an FBI unit located the vehicle near Maple Avenue — and the suspect allegedly rammed the federal vehicle in an attempt to escape.

Despite the collision, the driver continued fleeing southbound, weaving through traffic as law enforcement units maintained pursuit.

Officers tracked the vehicle as it looped back onto I-684 and then returned once again to Route 22, where traffic conditions ultimately brought the chase to a halt.

The vehicle became stuck in traffic just north of Maple Avenue, allowing officers to surround it and take both the driver and passenger into custody without further incident.

Both suspects were turned over to New York State Police as the investigation continues.

Officials said the coordinated response involved local, state, county and federal agencies working together to safely bring the dangerous pursuit to an end.
