Ocean County man jailed on multiple narcotics counts

ISLAND HEIGHTS, NJ — A 60-year-old Island Heights man is facing multiple narcotics charges after investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at his residence and seized cocaine, methamphetamine and drug distribution materials.

Thomas Koch was charged Thursday with Possession of Less Than One Half Ounce of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Less Than One Half Ounce of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office carried out the search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation. Authorities said they recovered quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine, along with paraphernalia indicative of illegal drug distribution and multiple electronic devices.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad is conducting a forensic examination of the seized electronic devices. Officials said additional charges may be forthcoming pending the results of that analysis.

Koch was taken into custody and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is being held pending a detention hearing.

Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer credited the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad and Narcotics Strike Force for their roles in the investigation.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
